The season finale. Purgatory has been part of downhill racing in Colorado for decades — it's where MSC comes home to close out the year. Fast, physical, and the only round where series titles are decided on the hill. Four rounds. One weekend. Everything on the line.

Camping at Purgatory

Two ways to camp for the season finale, August 28–30. Reserve an $80 flat-fee spot in the resort lots at the base area, or camp free on National Forest land straight up the road.

Resort Lots

$80 flat fee · booked through Purgatory

All camping spots are a flat $80 fee for race weekend, booked directly through Purgatory. You’ll be directed to either the car/sprinter area or the RV area at check-in based on your vehicle type. Spots are first-come, first-served, with no partial-day discounts.

This is dry camping, meaning there are no hookups for water, power, or sewer. Plan on no on-site services — no water, no power, no trash pickup and no restrooms in the camping area. Come fully self-sufficient and pack out what you bring in.

Open fires are not allowed. Propane fire rings only, and their use will depend on local fire restrictions at the time of the event. We’ll confirm closer to the date.

Noise policy. Please be respectful of your neighbors. Quiet hours begin at 10:00 PM.

Refund policy. All sales are final. Camping passes are non-refundable and non-transferable.

Hermosa Park Road

Free · dispersed · first-come

Hermosa Park Road (Forest Road 578) heads west out of the Purgatory parking lot into San Juan National Forest. Dispersed sites are scattered along it. Free, no reservation, no check-in.

No services of any kind. Pack in, pack out. No water, no power, no trash pickup.

No cell coverage on any carrier once you are up the road. Decide how your group will find each other before you leave pavement.

Sites are limited and some sit close to the road, so expect ATV and vehicle traffic. Nights get cold at elevation. Bring warm layers.

This is National Forest land, not managed by Mountain States Cup or Purgatory Resort. Availability is whatever you find when you arrive, and fire restrictions change through the season. Check current San Juan National Forest restrictions before planning on a fire.
